Royal National Park Tour

Sydney's southern gem

Royal National Park is the world's second oldest national park and has an abundance of habitats making it one of the best Sydney locations for birding.

We depart Sydney at 0600, arriving at Lady Carrington Drive within the Royal National Park at 0800. Great location for Superb Lyrebird, Large-billed Scrubwren, Green Catbird, Crimson Rosella, White-throated Treecreeper.

A short drive to Wises Track for the plethora of Honeyeaters and Wattlebirds. Then to Wattamolla to find the only endemic NSW bird, the Rockwarbler. Other birds in this area include Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoo, Tawny-crowned Honeyeater, honeyeaters and other bush birds. After lunch we head to Bonnie Vale camping area for the small wetlands and mangroves. Birds include ducks and spoonbills, cockatoos and kingfishers and possibly Mangrove Gerygone.

The final stop is at Audley Weir for local waterbirds and possibly the beautiful Azure Kingfisher before returning to Sydney around 1800.
